Our Vision
Public Art, a reflection of who we are.
Public art does more than beautify a place. It tells stories, preserves memory, challenges assumptions, sparks conversation and gives communities a way to express something about themselves.
It can delight us. It can make us curious. And sometimes, it can make us uncomfortable.
We believe all of those things have value.
Sculpture Valley was founded on the idea that meaningful public art belongs in the places we share—in our downtowns, parks, neighborhoods and along the Fox River. Our mission is to cultivate, promote, place and preserve public art throughout the Fox Cities through partnerships with artists, community members, businesses and local governments
Over the years, that work has taught us something important: the best public art isn't necessarily the art everyone agrees on.
Great work can be beautiful or strange, playful or solemn, immediately understood or stubbornly mysterious. It can commemorate our history, introduce us to an unfamiliar perspective, or simply stop us in our tracks on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon.
Our responsibility is not to make every choice safe or universally liked. It is to bring thoughtful, compelling work into public spaces; to respect the artists who create it and the people who support it; and to consider carefully how each work relates to the place and community around it.
We believe the Fox Cities are stronger when there is room for creativity, curiosity and conversation in the public realm.
Public art becomes part of the story of a place. We want ours to be a story worth telling.
